Tulips — How to Care for Tulips in a Vase
Tulips are different from many other cut flowers. They continue to grow after being cut and may stretch and bend toward the light.
How to keep tulips fresh in a vase:
- Choose a tall vase that will support the stems.
- Add approximately 3–5 cm of cool water. There is no need to add ice — extremely cold water is not necessary for keeping tulips fresh.
- Trim the stems by approximately 1–2 cm using a straight cut.
- Place the tulips in a cool location away from direct sunlight.
- Check the water level every day and add fresh water when needed.
- If the water becomes dirty, replace it and clean the vase.
- Rotate the vase occasionally if the tulips begin leaning strongly in one direction.
Do tulips need Chrysal?
Tulips generally do well with clean, cool water alone. If the bouquet does not come with a product specifically intended for tulips, additional floral food is not necessary.
