Lisianthus — How to Care for Lisianthus in a Vase
Eustomas can last beautifully in a vase when cared for properly and can continue to produce delicate blooms for an extended period.
How to care for eustomas:
- Fill a clean vase with cool water so that about 75% of the stem is in the water.
- Add Chrysal according to the instructions.
- Remove leaves that will be below the water level.
- Trim the stems with a sharp knife or garden shears at a 45° angle.
- Place the lisianthus in a cool location away from direct sunlight.
- Keep the bouquet away from fruit — fruit releases ethylene, which can accelerate the ageing of some cut flowers.
- Top up the water as needed.
- If the water becomes cloudy, replace it completely and refresh the stem cuts.
Tip: One lisianthus stem carries buds at different stages. Removing each bloom as it fades helps the remaining buds open, so the bouquet keeps renewing itself.
